About Rob

Rob Morrison serves as the Conservative Member of Parliament for Columbia–Kootenay–Southern Rockies. First elected in 2019 (then for the electoral district of Kootenay–Columbia), Rob has built a record of fighting for families, workers, small business and rural communities across southeastern British Columbia.

His father served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, exposing him to communities across Canada and launching what would become a 35-year career in federal public service:

  • Senior Executive Chief Superintendent (RCMP, British Columbia)
  • Diplomat with the Department of Foreign Affairs — responsible for 17 countries in Central/Southwest Asia and the Middle East
  • Director General, Treasury Board Secretariat — information-sharing across federal law-enforcement agencies and allied governments
  • RCMP Commissioner's Commendation for Outstanding Service; recognition from Prime Minister Stephen Harper for years of loyal public service
  • Re-elected three times — 2019, 2021 and 2025 — with a growing share of the vote each time

In Parliament

  • Member, National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians (NSICOP) since August 2025
  • Previously served as Deputy Shadow Minister for Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness
  • Active on the Justice and Human Rights, Public Safety, Indigenous and Northern Affairs, and Transport committees over multiple Parliaments
  • Champion of forestry workers, mining families, ranchers, farmers, hunters and tourism operators across the electoral district
  • Strong voice on rural public safety, RCMP staffing, mandatory minimum sentences and bail reform — drawing on his RCMP background
  • Advocate for hunters and lawful firearms owners — opposing gun round-ups and confiscation
  • Advocate for affordability, axing the carbon tax and rural infrastructure (including cell-service gaps on the Kootenay Pass)
  • Defender of Canadian sovereignty, secure borders and a strong national defence

Rob is a devoted husband and father. He and his wife Heather have five children.
